Tony Brewington
Coach Tony
Coach Tony, a Tampa Native brings over 15 years of coaching experience to CBU. No Gimmes…Everything Earned™; is Coach Tony’s philosophy to the game of baseball and in life.
As a former first baseman and pitcher for Benedict College, Brewington helped the Division II Tigers secure back-to-back SIAC Conference Championships while earning a selection to the NCAA All South-Regional Team. Coach Brewington’s collegiate career also included a selection to the Rawlings All American Team in 2004, SIAC All-Conference Team for 3 consecutive years, All American 2nd Team- NCAA Division II, SIAC All-Conference 1st Team Defense, SIAC All-Conference 1st team Designated Hitter, SIAC All-Conference Team (2 years), NAIA All-American, and All-Academic Teams.
While Coach Brewington worked extremely hard for his collegiate accolades, the commitment and perseverance for the game of baseball for a player with no high school baseball experience, was unique. Gratefully, he sparked interest from the Braves, Padres, Mariners, Orioles, Angels, Dodgers, and Reds throughout his post-collegiate career.
Since then, Coach Tony has earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation Administration and a Master’s Degree in Sports Management, from the HBCU, Florida A&M University while coaching as a graduate assistant for FAMU from 2006-2008; where he began his coaching career. He has also coached for the Batavia MuckDogs in the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League, as well as FHSAA and Summer High School Scout Teams.
Coach Tony currently serves as the Associate Director of Marketing and Communications for the Athletics Department at Carrollwood Day School in Tampa, Florida, and was most recently named as the Head Varsity Baseball Coach where he is building a program based on the absolutes of baseball while developing 5 tool baseball talent.
Coach Tony brings passion, energy, and excitement to the game of baseball. He believes in teaching players about sportsmanship, integrity, and respect for the game.
