Coach James

Coach James currently works at American Heritage as a curriculum specialist and is also on the coaching staff, working primarily with pitchers. All told coach Nick has been an educator and a coach for over 20 years at the high school level. He has enjoyed many honors in his career, but none bigger than his opportunity in 2013 when he was selected to be a part of the USA Baseball National Scout Team. As a member of USA Baseball, coach James has the privilege to help select the amateur teams that will represent the USA in international and Olympic play. Coach James served as the director of the NTIS for the South Florida territory and ran several identification camps. From 2009-2019 Coach Nick was the head baseball coach at Westminster Academy as is the winningest head coach in school history. He was named Broward High School Baseball 3A-District 14 Coach Of The Year 3 times, and was also selected to coach in the 2012 and 2014, 2016, 2018 Broward County High School All-Star Games, respectively. His resume includes 8 postseason playoff appearances, culminating in the 2008 2A state title while he was the pitching coach at the Providence School. Before coming to Westminster Academy, coach Nick was the Head Coach for Osceola High School in Kissimmee, FL. While at OHS, coach James led the Kowboys to a 36-20 record and was named 2009 and 2010 Orange Belt Conference Baseball Coach of the year. Coach James grew up in Chesapeake, VA, and attended national baseball power Greenbrier Christian Academy (1994-1996). As a player, coach Nick was the two-time State-Baseball Player of the Year in VA, and a USA TODAY Honorable Mention All-American. In college, he was a 3-time all-NCAA scholar-athlete while pitching at the Division-I level for James Madison University (1996-2000).  Coach James is married to the former Erin Cigna and currently resides in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.  He enjoys reading, playing golf, and spending as much time as possible with his two children, Jaxon James ( 9) and Lila James ( 1).
