Miguel Menendez
Coach Miguel
Growing up in Key West, Fla., Menendez gravitated toward the game of baseball from a young age, hitting off a pitching machine behind his grandfather’s store by age 3. As a player, he led Key West High School to a state title in 1995, then went on to the University of Tampa and won an NCAA Division II national title in 1998. Since 2014 as the head coach of one of the nation’s top high school baseball programs Jesuit Tampa, under Miguel’s tutelage, the Jesuit Tigers captured their fifth State Championship. Jesuit entered the 2020 season having earned eight consecutive District titles, including 5-for-5 under Menendez, and ranked No. 1 nationally by several national baseball media outlets, including Perfect Game and Collegiate Baseball. The Tigers were 9-0 and remained No. 1 nationally when the season was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
